Leading the way

Who: Nick, Troop 592, Beaverton, Oregon

What: Nick and his team of volunteers restored a trail entrance outside a nearby rocks-and-minerals museum. The refurbished area connects the museum to several existing nature trails.

History in the making

Who: Malachi, Troop 16, New Rochelle, New York

What: Malachi’s project, “Tuckahoe Speaks: Self-Guided Audio and Walking Tour,” tells the history of a nearby town through weather-resistant signage. Malachi and his helpers installed eight signs at various landmarks.

Green team

Who: Nicholas, Troop 195, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania

What: Nicholas led a 10-month effort to build a permanent golf practice green at a local high school. The project — paid for with $18,000 in donations from 80 donors — features professional-grade synthetic turf and three putting holes.

Fieldhouse follow-through

Who: Quinn, Troop 20, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina

What: With help from his varsity football and lacrosse teammates, Quinn painted the high school’s athletic field house. The finished project used 25 gallons of paint and 10 rolls of tape. When finished, it highlighted the school’s colors, logo and team mascot.

Yes! The Glenn A. and Melinda W. Adams National Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year Award honors outstanding Eagle projects. An Eagle Scout, their parent or guardian, or any registered Scouting volunteer (with the Eagle Scout’s permission) may submit the Eagle Scout service project for consideration.
