Few images are more closely associated with Scouting than a campsite in the great outdoors. Multiple generations of Scouts have ventured out for campfires, slept under the stars, eaten s’mores and created lifelong memories. The character-building lessons learned through camping tend to stick with Scouts for years to come.
The new Camping merit badge digital resource guide provides practical tools, engaging resources and meaningful guidance to one of Scouting’s most foundational experiences.
An Eagle-required merit badge, camping is a journey that challenges Scouts to become more self-reliant, adaptable and prepared. Whether planning their first overnight outing or the 20th, Scouts develop skills that extend far beyond the campsite. The digital resource guide supports that growth by connecting merit badge requirements with real-world outdoor adventures and hands-on learning.
What makes the Camping merit badge particularly unique is how it teaches character through experience. Throughout the guide, Scouts explore topics such as camping safety, weather awareness, first aid and Leave No Trace principles while practicing those skills with accountability, resilience and teamwork.
With each badge requirement, Scouts learn responsibility and confidence when facing challenges alongside fellow Scouts.
Expanded digital content helps bring these concepts to life through multimedia resources that make preparation easier and learning more engaging. The digital resource guide serves as both a road map and a companion, helping Scouts better understand not only what to do but also why these outdoor skills matter.
Camping has been at the heart of Scouting from the beginning because it provides opportunities for growth that are difficult to replicate anywhere else. With the new Camping merit badge digital resource guide, Scouts can strengthen outdoor awareness, deepen their appreciation for nature, and continue building the resourcefulness and leadership that will serve them well for years to come.
Camp out with other digital resource guides, and use these resources to spark your merit badge journey.
