Scouts save the day all the time. Former Scouts, too.
Like last weekend when Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings saved a 63-year-old woman who was choking on her beef fajitas. Rawlings pointed to his time in Scouting and as a lifeguard when explaining where he learned the abdominal thrusts he used.
Here’s what happened: Helen Mayer was eating at El Fenix, a Tex-Mex restaurant in Downtown Dallas, when she started gasping for air.
While other patrons sat there, Rawlings knew what to do and sprang into action. Just like you’d expect from a former Boy Scout.
Pretty cool that the mayor of the nation’s ninth-largest city gave Scouting some of the credit here. Way to go, Mayor!
